Hye-sun Koo, also known as Koo Hye-seon, is a South Korean actress, singer-songwriter, and director. She was born on November 9, 1984, in Incheon, South Korea. Her family consists of her parents and one older sister.

Koo started her education at Inha University, where she studied piano. However, she later transferred to the Korea Art School, where she majored in drama. She then went on to attend Sungkyunkwan University, where she received a degree in Theater Studies.

Career Beginnings

Koo made her acting debut in the 2002 television drama “Nonstop 5”. However, she did not gain mainstream popularity until her role as Geum Jan-di in the hit drama “Boys Over Flowers” in 2009. The drama was a huge success and earned Koo the Best New Actress award at the 45th Baeksang Arts Awards.

After the success of “Boys Over Flowers”, Koo starred in a number of other popular dramas, including “Pure in Heart” (2011) and “The Musical” (2011). She also ventured into film, starring in “Magic” (2010) and “Peach Tree” (2012).
